The U.S. Senate unanimously passed the Recognize, Assist, Include, Support and Engage (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act. Attention now moves to secure strong bipartisan support for this legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The RAISE Family Caregivers promotes greater adoption of person-centered care; improved assessment and service planning (including care transitions and coordination) with family caregivers and care recipients; increased information, education, training, referral and care coordination on hospice care, palliative care and advance planning services; and respite options.
Family caregiving is a key aspect of the delivery system and often cited as an area lacking in support.
