CMS has posted a web-based training that covers a review of the new Long Term Care Survey Process. This web-based training walks providers through each step of the new process from the background of the survey all the way to potential citations. LAI is forecasting one of the biggest changes of the process to be the initial pool process. At a high level, this initial pool process requires the surveyors to be out and about meeting all of your residents for the first 8-10 hours of the survey. During this time, the surveyors will observe each resident, potentially interview the resident or resident representative, and conduct a brief record review. An explanation of the initial sample process is included in this web-based training.
