During a recent SNF Open Door Forum, CMS warned that providers who miss two consecutive PBJ deadlines will face a “suppressed” Five Star Rating starting with this next submission period. CMS encouraged providers to not wait until the last minute to submit data to avoid site delays or malfunctions due to increased traffic. Beginning in 2018, the PBJ data will be used to calculate staffing data for the Five Star rating. Currently, the Nursing Home Compare page includes a badge to show whether or not the facility has submitted staffing data, with those not submitting data wearing a gray badge.
