LeadingAge was a co-host of a Capitol Hill briefing to announce the bipartisan, bicameral legislation, Patient Choice and Quality Care Act of 2017 that will be introduced by Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Rep. Phil Roe, MD (R-TN). LeadingAge is proud to support the Patient Choice and Quality Care Act of 2017. LeadingAge will notify members when the House and Senate bills are introduced, and encourage all members to join us to obtain support from our members of Congress to co-sponsor this important legislation.
The legislation addresses the following:
- An Advanced Illness Management and Coordination Services demonstration
- Enhancing coverage of advance care planning services
- Quality measurement development and implementation for end of life care
- Portability and increasing awareness of Advance Directives
Rep. Blumenauer said end of life planning is not just relevant for the elderly and seriously ill, that accidents and tragedies unfortunately occur.
